[лат. radia(tio) — излучение и греч. genos — род, происхождение; греч. therapeia — лечение]комбинация радиотерапии (см. радиотерапия) и генной терапии (см. генная терапия), используемая для лечения онкологических заболеваний. Для повышения чувствительности раковых клеток к радиационному воздействию и, соответственно, уменьшению дозы радиации, используемой при радиотерапии, в раковые клетки избирательно переносят гены, продукты которых повышают их радиочувствительность (напр., гены, способствующие апоптозу с индуцируемыми радиацией промоторами; гены, повышающие транспорт через мембрану раковых клеток цитотоксических радионуклидов, и др.).Толковый биотехнологический словарь.
